The Objective
Surprise Surprise's 2019 event was inspired by Victorian circuses, which often featured a "Freak Show". In a popular time for cabinets of curiosity, the shows displayed human oddities. The event was an immersive experience with five characters created for the occasion: Mrs Crow, Tom Monkey, Nona Antonia, Clock-Clown, John and Carla Richardson. Actors spontaneously performed amongst the crowd throughout the night at warehouse space, Studio 9, which itself was an iconic cabinet of curiosity.
