The Objective
For Halloween, the busiest night in Lan Kwai Fung (Hong Kong’s nightlife district), Hugo Belloy was asked to develop a unique event concept for the legendary club, Dragon-i. The brief was to embody the edgy nature of the brand and outshine other venues in the area.

The Inspiration
With a desire to avoid common Halloween themes while still evoking darkness and danger, Hugo Belloy found inspiration from the Japanese rope-tying art, Shibari. A connection was drawn between the intricate patterns of the carefully crafted knots and the nature of a Black Widow. This spider is known for its deadly venom and the tendency for females to eat their mates after sexual relations.
The Creation
The highly anticipated event invited guests to lose themselves in a nest filled with dangerously beautiful creatures. A large-scale rope installation, which took one week to create, greeted partygoers who dressed to the theme of “Scary Black Elegance meets Savage Red Beauties”. Two performances by Rope & Shibari artist Kinoko Hajime injected the night with erotic artistry. Immersive dance and character performances sprung up spontaneously through the crowd. The Australian DJ duo, Nervo, was the headline act playing a banging set of EDM, Electro House and Progressive House.
